Former Long Island standout Jayden Stroman is headed to another top collegiate baseball program, as the talented right-handed pitcher has transferred to Georgia Tech.
Stroman, the younger brother of longtime Major League pitcher Marcus Stroman, will join the Yellow Jackets after spending the 2025 season with the University of Virginia. Georgia Tech adds a highly regarded arm with tremendous potential as it continues to strengthen its pitching staff for the upcoming season.
Before arriving at Virginia, Stroman originally committed to North Carolina before ultimately beginning his collegiate career with the Cavaliers. Although his path has taken a few turns, his talent has never been in question.
One of the nation's top high school prospects, Stroman was ranked No. 58 overall by Perfect Game coming out of high school. Armed with a fastball that reaches the 90s, he has long been considered one of the more intriguing young pitchers in college baseball thanks to his athleticism, upside and ability to generate swings and misses.
During his lone season at Virginia, Stroman appeared in 16 games for a Cavaliers team that earned the No. 2 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional of the NCAA Tournament. While he experienced the typical ups and downs that come with a freshman campaign, he also flashed the talent that made him one of the country's premier recruits.
Now, Stroman will look for a fresh start at Georgia Tech, one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's premier baseball programs. The Yellow Jackets are hoping his powerful right arm and high ceiling can make an immediate impact as they prepare for another competitive season.
For Long Island baseball fans, it's another opportunity to watch one of the region's talented young athletes continue his development on one of college baseball's biggest stages. With his combination of ability and potential, Stroman's next chapter at Georgia Tech will certainly be one to watch.
